Description
Cayucos runs on tradition. Over a thousand people plunge into the January surf beside the pier each New Year’s Day for the Carlin Soulé Memorial Polar Bear Dip, a habit the town has kept since 1981, and the Fourth of July parade comes with a serious sandcastle competition on the state beach. In between, downtown fills a few walkable blocks with galleries, antique shops, bakeries, and casual seafood spots. Locals call it the last of the old California beach towns, and the calendar is a big part of why.
Location
Cayucos sits on California’s Central Coast roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, minutes north of Morro Bay along Highway 1. This home is perched directly above the sand on Studio Drive with private stairs down to the beach and a view that runs from north of the Cayucos Pier all the way south to Morro Rock. The pier itself was built in 1872 by town founder Captain James Cass and remains the center of local life, where you can fish without a license, watch the surfers, or look for whale spouts at the Whale Trail sign. Geological oddities dot the shoreline nearby, including Carson Rock and Cupcake Rock south of the pier and protected Half Seal Cove to the north. Downtown Cayucos is a short drive for dinner, galleries, and seasonal events, and visitors timing a winter trip can join the Polar Bear Dip or simply watch from the pier.
Layout
This 2,760 square foot home has five bedrooms and four baths and sleeps up to 12 guests across two levels. Upstairs holds the open concept kitchen, dining, and living area behind wall-to-wall windows, plus three bedrooms: the first and second each have a queen bed and share a Jack-and-Jill bath with a step-in shower, and the third has a queen bed and a television served by a second upstairs bath with a step-in shower. A half bath rounds out the main floor. Downstairs, a fourth bedroom has a king bed and a fifth has two queen beds, with a recently remodeled shared bath featuring a step-in shower. Please note the fifth bedroom is reached by walking through the fourth, which suits families or groups traveling together better than unrelated parties. The downstairs den adds a television, bar area, high-top table seating four, and additional sleeping space.

The well equipped kitchen sits at the center of the open upstairs living area, with an indoor dining table sized for the full group. Outdoors, a spacious oceanfront patio offers dining, a fire pit, a grill, and private stairs to the sand, while a sun-filled side courtyard with lounge seating gives the group a quieter second option. Guests also have high speed Wi-Fi, smart televisions, beach essentials, and beach games for use during the stay. A double garage houses the washer and dryer, and the driveway accommodates up to four vehicles. Please note this is a non smoking property and pets are not permitted.
