Description
Los Osos and Baywood Park sit on the quiet side of Morro Bay, along one of the most unhurried stretches of the Central Coast. This is a small, close-knit community where the back bay estuary draws 250 species of birds, monarch butterflies cluster in the groves from October through March, and the pace is set by the tide rather than the traffic. The Baywood area holds a compact cluster of restaurants, coffee shops, a market, and a deli that punch well above what a town this size would suggest. Visitors who like taking the turn off the beaten path tend to find their way here.
Location
Los Osos sits just south of Morro Bay off Highway 1, with San Luis Obispo a short drive inland. This home is in a quiet residential neighborhood with a well-maintained trailhead for the El Moro Elfin Forest at the end of the street, where a one-mile ADA-accessible boardwalk winds through centuries-old pygmy oaks with viewing platforms over the Morro Bay National Estuary. Restaurants, groceries, and coffee are within a few blocks in Baywood, and downtown Morro Bay and the Embarcadero are about five minutes by car. The estuary fronting Los Osos offers some of the calmest kayaking on the coast, with rentals and guided half-day and full-day tours available locally, and Montaña de Oro State Park covers 8,000 acres and nearly seven miles of undeveloped coastline just south of town. For birding, monarchs, and a slower morning, Sweet Springs Nature Preserve sits minutes away, and the full Los Osos and Baywood guide covers dining and local favorites.
Layout
This 1,800 square foot home has three bedrooms and two baths and sleeps up to 7 guests plus one child under the age of 3. The primary bedroom holds a king bed with generous closet space and an attached bath with a step-in shower, the second bedroom has a queen bed, and the third has two twin beds well suited to kids or independent travelers. A twin rollaway stored in a closet provides the seventh sleeping space, and the hall bath features a well-lit vanity and a tub and shower combination. The open living area includes a sunroom nook, a fireplace, and seating beyond the couch and love seat, with an intimate dining table for six and bar top seating that keeps company with whoever is cooking. Please note the home sleeps only in the bedding provided.
Amenities
The kitchen is well equipped for full meals, and a washer and dryer sit between the kitchen and garage. Outdoor space is the standout here: a front deck with sweeping bay views, a spacious backyard with a propane grill and a zen garden, and a rooftop deck reached by stairs with a picnic table framing Morro Rock, the bay, and the Seven Sisters peaks. Guests also have Wi-Fi throughout, a flat screen television with cable and a DVD player, and parking for up to three vehicles between the garage and driveway.
