Cayucos Seal House

Description
Cayucos is an easygoing surf town where the dog is usually part of the plan. Miles of open sand run north and south, the pace never gets ahead of itself, and a few walkable blocks downtown hold antique shops, bakeries, and casual seafood spots. Rolling ranchland climbs into oak-crested hills directly behind town, which keeps the whole place feeling more rural than resort. Locals call it the last of the old California beach towns, and it earns the name.

Location
Cayucos sits on California’s Central Coast roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, minutes north of Morro Bay along Highway 1. This home is perched directly above the sand on Studio Drive with private stairs leading down to miles of open beach. Travelers with dogs have unusually good options here: the Cayucos Beach Trail runs south past the pier to an off-leash dog beach at its southern end, and the town also maintains the Norma Rose Dog Park off Ocean Boulevard with separate fenced areas for different sized dogs, water bowls, and picnic tables. Just north of town, Estero Bluffs State Park offers four miles of wide, flat coastal trail with tidepools, migrating gray whales, harbor seals, and sea otters, though leash rules vary by section so it is worth checking before you go. The broader guide to dog-friendly activities along Highway 1 covers more trails, parks, and beaches up and down the coast.

Layout
This 1,572 square foot home has three bedrooms and two baths and sleeps up to 7 guests. The entire upper floor is a primary suite with a king bed, fireplace, wet bar, flat screen television, and an ensuite bath with a step-in shower and ocean views. Downstairs holds the living room with a fireplace and a nautical boat bar, a galley kitchen with high-end stainless appliances, and two guest bedrooms: one with a king bed and one with three twin beds arranged as a bunk plus a single, which suits kids well. A full guest bath with a tiled step-in shower serves the lower level. Open beam ceilings, bamboo floors, and a full wall of windows carry the ocean through the main living space.

Amenities
A glass-enclosed oceanfront deck sits wind-protected above the sand with seating, a grill, and private stairs down to the beach. The kitchen is fully equipped, and guests also have high speed Wi-Fi, smart televisions, beach essentials, a washer and dryer, and an outdoor shower for rinsing off after a day on the sand. Parking includes one compact space in the garage and two in the driveway. Dogs are welcome with prior approval, limited to two small dogs under 20 pounds or one medium dog up to 60 pounds, and a nightly fee applies per pet. This is a non smoking property.
