The 950-foot Cayucos Pier is a short walk from the front steps, offering fishing without a license, whale watching, and a front-row seat to the sunset. Cayucos State Beach stretches out below with wide sand, gentle surf, and a well-loved playground. Low tide reveals tide pools filled with sea stars, urchins, and crabs, and offshore rafts of otters are a common sight. The walkable downtown core just up the block holds antique shops, surf outfitters, chowder houses, and the original Brown Butter Cookie Company, with more to explore throughout town.
