Sunset on Studio Drive
Description
Cayucos sits quietly between the Pacific and open ranchland, and Studio Drive is where that contrast is easiest to see. This is a residential stretch of coastline north of the pier, where the neighborhood is calm, the surf is audible from the porch, and the view runs south all the way to Morro Rock. Downtown and its antique shops, bakeries, and seafood spots are a short drive away, but many guests find they leave the car parked. Locals call this the last of the old California beach towns, and the description holds.
Location
Cayucos is perched on California’s Central Coast roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, minutes north of Morro Bay along Highway 1. This home faces the water from across the street, with beach access a few homes down via a path and coastal trail that is partially paved and turns to uneven natural ground, so it may not suit every visitor. Cayucos State Beach runs six miles of white sand south toward Morro Rock and is one of California’s best stretches for surfing, swimming, and beachcombing, with the state park system spanning eleven miles of bluffs, tidepools, and seasonal creeks. Whale watching is a regular pastime here, and travelers can join a seaweed foraging tour or a sea bluff conservation walk through the Stewardship Travel for Good program. The full Cayucos destination guide covers events, dining, and local favorites.
Layout
This 1,575 square foot home has three bedrooms and two and a half baths and sleeps up to 5 adults, or 6 with at least one child under the age of 12. The floor plan is reversed to follow the view: the living room, dining area, kitchen, and a full bath with a step-in shower are all upstairs behind floor to ceiling windows, with a small balcony for fresh air. All three bedrooms sit downstairs around a central family room with plush seating and a large flat screen television. The primary bedroom has a queen bed, its own television, and an ensuite bath with a tiled step-in shower, while the second bedroom holds a California king and the third a full bed. A half bath serves the lower level, and guests in the second and third bedrooms use either the upstairs full bath or the primary bath for showers.
Amenities
The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with stainless appliances, a kitchen island, and a farmhouse sink, and there is a washer and dryer off the downstairs living space. The converted garage lounge adds a second gathering spot with a flat screen television, fireplace, and a wine bar with fridge, sink, and toaster oven, so evenings outside do not require a trip upstairs. Out front, a patio with a fire pit faces the water and connects to a side yard with a grill and an outdoor shower for rinsing off sand. Guests also have high speed Wi-Fi, a convertible standing desk, games and puzzles, beach essentials, and driveway parking. Please note this is a non smoking property and pets are not permitted.
