The Surf Shack

Description
Surf culture is alive and well in Cayucos. The break off the pier draws beginners and spectators alike, while more serious swells roll in up the coast, and Cayucos Surf Company has been renting boards and teaching lessons in town since 1996. Downtown fills a few walkable blocks with antique shops, bakeries, and casual seafood spots, and the ranchland rising behind it keeps the whole town feeling more rural than resort. Locals call it the last of the old California beach towns.

Location
Studio Drive runs along the northern edge of Cayucos, a small beach town on the Central Coast just up Highway 1 from Morro Bay. This home sits directly on the beach strand, positioned between Morro Rock to the south and the Cayucos Pier to the north, with a lit private staircase leading straight to miles of open sand. The break just outside is well known to surfers as “Studios,” named for Studio Drive itself, a powerful beach break with rights and lefts that suits experienced riders and stays uncrowded most of the year. Officially it goes by Morro Strand North, and it consistently ranks among the best surf beaches along Highway 1, with fall and winter delivering the cleanest conditions. Newcomers can book lessons or rent a full wetsuit through Cayucos Surf Company in town, and the pier a short drive north offers a gentler break plus fishing without a license.

Layout
This 2,150 square foot custom home has three bedrooms and three baths and sleeps up to 8 guests, with the whole property themed as a 1960s surf film reimagined in a modern build. The upper level is a private primary suite with its own exterior entrance, a king bed, a roof deck with fire pit and panoramic views, a soaking tub positioned toward Morro Rock, dual vanities, and a dual-head steam shower. Downstairs, a second bedroom holds a king bed with a peek of the ocean and a third holds two bunk beds for four adult-sized twins. A bath with a tub and shower combination sits off the lower king room with an ensuite privacy option, and a third full bath with a multi-head steam shower opens off the den. Please note the home sleeps only in the bedding provided.

Amenities
The kitchen is outfitted with Viking and Sub Zero appliances and a custom paneled refrigerator, opening to the dining area and oceanfront living room. The garage has been converted into a den with a surround sound entertainment center, large 4K television, generous sectional seating, a foosball table, and an exercise bike, with the washer and dryer just off it. Outside, the beachfront patio holds a full-sized propane grill, seating, and a second fire pit alongside the private beach stairs, and a hot and cold outdoor shower plus a separate foot wash handle the sand before you head inside. Guests also have high speed Wi-Fi, beach essentials, and driveway parking for three vehicles. Please note this is a non smoking property and pets are not permitted.
